'Our family is broken': A father's tribute to his daughter after lake death

The father of a 13 year old girl who died after getting into difficulty while swimming in an Oxfordshire lake has paid tribute to her.

Nicole Sanders had gone to Ducklington Lake lake in Witney with her ten year old sister and two other friends on Sunday.

Nicole's father Joe Middleton said: "I hope she's at peace now and I hope she knows that we love her so much and that we're going to live our life making her proud."

Her father says she had only gone into the water up to her waist on Sunday afternoon, but had got into difficulty after entering an area where the ground dropped and it became much deeper.

Emergency crews were called to the lake to try to save Nicole.

She was rescued from the water but despite the best efforts by hospital staff, she never regained consciousness.

Joe Middleton has thanked everyone who has passed on their best wishes to the family.
