Two children taken to hospital after being swept out to sea in Dymchurch

Two children have been taken to hospital after they were swept out to sea off the coast of Dymchurch in Kent.

An eyewitness captured footage of the coastguard helicopter from Lydd rescuing the casualties just after 3pm on Tuesday.

One child was airlifted to Ashford hospital and the other child was taken to hospital by the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

Eyewitness, Kathy Nicholls, was on the beach when the children got into difficulty.

Emergency services received multiple 999 calls about three people, two children and one adult, in difficulty in the water.

Kent Police, the Dungeness Coastguard Rescue Team and the Littlestone RNLI lifeboat were among the emergency services who attended.

The adult, who was also in trouble, was able to swim to shore.
