Driver jailed after causing three-vehicle crash which killed woman on the Isle of Wight
A driver has been jailed after she admitted causing a three-vehicle crash on the Isle of Wight which killed a woman and left four others seriously injured.
Yaashmi Ravikumar, from Essex, was driving a Mini Cooper along Forest Road in Newport on 14 April 2019 when she collided with a Fiat Bravo and a bus at the Betty Haunt Lane junction.
Yvonne Copland, 64, from Shide, who was a passenger in the red Fiat, died at the scene.
Three other people in the Fiat sustained injuries as well as all four people in the Mini Cooper and the driver of the bus, Stephen Pitman.
Ten passengers who were travelling on the bus were also taken to hospital as a precaution.
Ravikumar, 20, of Buller Road in Laindon, was sentenced to 18 months in a young offender's prison after being charged with causing death by dangerous driving, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
She has also been disqualified from driving for 33 months and will be required to take an extended retest.
