Investigation after video emerges of Sussex Police arresting black men with 'unnecessary force'

An investigation is underway after phone footage emerged of Sussex Police making two arrests where the suspects are restrained with what critics say was unnecessary force.

The video clips of the two black men in two separate incidents have since been shared thousands of times on social media.

In one of the videos, the man being restrained protests that he 'cannot breathe'. Officers say they were looking for a vulnerable girl at a property when the man involved became aggressive and resisted arrest.

In a statement issued to ITV News Meridian, Sussex Police say they teach officers to defend themselves and others using reasonable force and are reviewing the footage.
