After a month in hospital and 16 days on a ventilator, a Covid patient has been able to thank the staff who saved his life.

Stephen Robinson was admitted to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford where his symptoms quickly worsened.

However, intensive care nurse Kelly Coleman was there to help him through.

  • Report by ITV News Meridian's Sarah Saunders:

A chance for Stephen Robinson to say thank you to the intensive care nurse he calls his guardian angel.

They haven't seen each other since he was discharged from hospital after his admission with Covid-19.

When Stephen was admitted to William Harvey hospital in Ashford the virus resulted in sepsis and double pneumonia. Unable to breathe for himself he was into an induced coma and survived on a ventilator for 16 days.

An important and new job for medical staff has been allowing patients to stay in touch with family who cannot visit their seriously ill loved ones.

Words of gratitude as the NHS continues to face this new challenge.
