Fire rips through roof of flats in Southsea

A fire has ripped through the roof of a building in Southsea in Hampshire.

Crews from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Kent Road just after 5am on Friday morning to tackle the blaze.

The property is believed to house a number of flats.

The public was asked to avoid the area while they dealt with the incident.

The fire is now out and crews remains on the scene to dampen down the roof.

Luckily there have been no reported injuries and everyone inside has been accounted for.

Fire investigators will begin to ascertain the cause of the blaze.
