An investigation is underway into a large-scale cockle picking operation along the seafront at Hill Head in Hampshire.

The Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) spoke to around 40 people on Tuesday June 23, who were collecting shellfish on the shore, as part of an investigation to target modern slavery.

Authorities believe they are potential victims of labour exploitation.

The investigation, supported by Hampshire Police, Fareham Borough Council and Immigration Enforcement, follows reports by members of the public about shellfish collection.
