Woman leaves hospital after 92-day battle with coronavirus

A mother from West Sussex has left hospital, on her birthday, after suffering with coronavirus for 92 days.

Donna Morgan fell ill in mid March and was taken to St Richards in Chichester.

When she was brought to hospital, Donna spent 10 weeks in intensive care and was critically ill.

Donna had no underlying health conditions when she contracted coronavirus but she became St Richards' longest Covid-19 patient.

Medical staff lined the corridors and gathered outside the hospital to clap for Donna as she left, after her three month battle with the virus.

While his wife was in hospital, Donna's husband Toby, raised money for the NHS.

He painted his van in support of the cause and achieved a total of £114,000 to date.

Toby said he was speechless at his wife's recovery and said he had been "determined to do everything I can to help" hospital staff.

Dr Maggie Davies, Chief Nurse, St Richard's Hospital said Donna had done "amazingly well" to overcome the virus.

She said: "Donna was really poorly. She was in ITU for 70 days, critically ill for 30 days and with us for over 90 days."
