Celebrity hairdresser Trevor Mitchell dies aged 86
A celebrity hairdresser who opened a string of salons across the south has died, aged 86, after a long illness.
Trevor Mitchell's clients included Sean Connery and Kevin Keegan - he was responsible for the latter's famous bubble perm back in the 1980s.
He won many hairdressing competitions and trained stylists from across the world during his 60 year career.
Posting on social media, Trevor Mitchell Hairdressing in Bedford Place announced the sad news:
His son Jeff also posted about his father's love of Southampton, where Trevor opened his first barber's shop in Woolston in 1956.
His business grew to eight salons across the south of England and he became good friends with many of his clients, who included Southampton footballers Lawrie McMenemy and Peter Shilton.
Celebrities came from far and wide to have their hair cut by 'the fastest barber in the world'.
