Tributes paid to 'hero' nurse who died after contracting Covid-19

Tributes have been paid to a nurse at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading - who died after testing positive for coronavirus.

It's understood Julie Masinja Edward passed away earlier this month.

A fundraising page has now been set up to support her family.

Julie's family have described her as a kind, strong, loving and well-respected person, both in her community and by her peers. They add she was the pillar of her family and will be greatly missed.

Julie's death comes after the death of Dr Peter Tun who was 62. He was also working on the frontline at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

He died on April 13th having contracted the virus, and a 'serious incident investigation' has since been launched by the Trust after his family claimed it was due to the lack of PPE.
