Pedestrian killed in M27 crash

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a lorry on a motorway in the early hours of the morning.

The accident involving the 40-year-old woman happened on the westbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 of the M27 near Southampton, at about 4.20am on Friday.

A Hampshire Police spokeswoman said: "The 40-year-old female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The lorry driver was uninjured."

Police are keen to speak to any motorists who was driving along that stretch of the M27 at around the time of the incident and may have dash cam footage.
