Murder investigation launched following man's death in Weymouth

Dorset Police have launched a murder investigation after a man died following an alleged assault.

Officers were called to a property in Dorchester Road at 4.13pm on Saturday April 4th.

Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and found a 32-year-old man with a serious head injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Following enquiries two men from Weymouth, aged 40 and 47, were arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Sadly, the man died in hospital on Sunday morning. His next of kin has been informed and the coroner has been notified.

The two Weymouth men were subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently assisting detectives with their enquiries.

A full investigation is now underway led by detectives from Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT).
