Professor who taught David Cameron dies after contracting coronavirus
A professor, who taught David Cameron at Oxford University, has died after testing positive for coronavirus.
Professor Peter Sinclair has been described by Mr Cameron as "one of the kindest, as well as one of the cleverest people" he ever met, adding that "it was a complete privilege to know him".
Professor Sinclair taught Economics at Brasenose College between 1970 and 1994, after which he took up a Professorship at the University of Birmingham.
He passed away in hospital on Tuesday, after testing positive for Covid-19 several weeks ago.
Professor Sinclair’s former students also include Diane Coyle, Sir Dave Ramsden, Camilla Cavendish and Tim Harford.
The Principal of Brasenose College, John Bowers QC, described him as a "wonderful man" whose "gentleness and compassion shone as well as his academic brilliance".
He added that a memorial service will be organised in due course.
