Coronavirus puts call centre under pressure
Coronavirus has put call centres that deal with panic alarms for elderly people under unprecedented strain.
A centre in the South handles around 7,000 calls a day. Most relate to falls and sudden illnesses from people with lifeline buttons in their homes. But managers say they're now dealing with an extra 1,000 calls a day.
