Brave seven-year-old Ollie rings out the changes in cancer ward
Video report by ITV News Meridian's Andy Dickenson
There are fewer things harder in a parent's life than hearing that your child is seriously ill. And with a cancer diagnosis, hope can sometimes be in short supply.
For one seven-year-old who's been through leukemia, however, there was a chance to pass on some encouragement at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
Ollie Ridley has sponsored a bell that will ring out every time a child completes their treatment, and is well again.
Ollie Ridley had one of the most common forms of blood cancer, treated over three years through a combination of chemotherapies, steroids, and lumber punches.
His parents, Steve and Sian Ridley, say it's been an awful experience, but their son has remained strong.
Ollie will still have to undergo regular checks throughout his life.
Ollie and his family hope their gift will be a beacon of encouragement as others go through their treatment.
