Farnborough shoppers stocking up on toilet paper prompts Twitter frenzy

A video of shoppers in Farnborough stocking up on huge amounts of toilet paper has been viewed almost three million times.

The buying frenzy, filmed at Costco, has prompted a huge debate on Twitter about the merits of panic buying.

ITV Meridian journalist Adam Clark posted two videos on social media, showing huge multi-packs of loo roll being grabbed from the shelves:

The videos have sparked a debate on whether you really need that much toilet paper- even if you are self-isolating for a couple of weeks.

Rob B responded with "Why do folks think they need to stock pile bog paper? What do they think the virus is going to do to them - really bad ‘Delhi belly’?"

While JeepGirl "If you're prepping for a pandemic, why wouldn't you buy steak and booze? There's no reason for toilet paper if you're not eating and drinking."

Others were more sympathetic, with @shirleyburnham saying "It may be daft. But isn't it awful that people are so scared & worried."
