Local choirboy with angelic voice lands huge record deal

More than 30 years ago, a young choirboy from Wales took the world by storm. That boy of course was Aled Jones and his beautiful treble voice made him an international star.

Well now another choirboy - this time from Surrey - is being tipped for similar success. Cai Thomas was discovered singing at his local church in Farnham.

He was approached by a record company and has just recorded his first album.

  • Watch Heather Edwards' report She went to meet the boy with the golden voice:

Almost magical.

A treble voice can be heart-stoppingly beautiful. Could this young boy from surrey be the next big thing?

Cai Thomas' family are very musical and have always encouraged his talent, which they put it down to his welsh roots.

  • James Thomas- Kai's father:

After hearing him sing at church, a record company approached the family wanting to record his outstanding voice.

The family raised £27,000 by crowdfunding to help pay for the studio time and plan to release Kias album next year.

An obvious comparison will be made with Aled Jones. He was the lead chorister at Bangor Cathedral when he was discovered.

Cai is just a local schoolboy who comes to sing at his church and is now about to record his first album.

Kai's parents say this album catches a moment in time, specifically the 18 months where Kai sings beautiful music and sings to the best of his ability.
