Man arrested on suspicion of murder after body found in wheelie-bin in Lewes
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman's body wasdiscovered dumped in a wheelie-bin in East Sussex.
Her remains were found by a dog walker at the edge of a recreation ground off Landport Road in Lewes, at 12.30pm on Wednesday.
A Sussex Police spokesman said an examination of the body has shown the victim suffered a "significant head injury" and had been left in the bin for up to a month.
He added a post-mortem examination would be carried out to establish a cause of death.
A 41-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
The force spokesman said: "The death was initially treated as unexplained but examination of the body has shown a significant head injury and the matter is now being treated as murder."
