Man, accused of killing pregnant wife 20 years ago, found guilty of her murder
Andrew Griggs has been convicted of the murder of his wife Debbie at Canterbury Crown Court.
For two decades he had lied about her disappearance, claiming she was depressed and stormed out of their home after having an argument.
In reality, he killed Debbie, worried she would divorce him and take half of everything he owned after she found out about his affair with a 15-year old girl.
The 34-year old has never been found but it’s likely Andrew Griggs either hid Debbie’s body in a freezer at his business or, because he was part of a sailing club, dumped her at sea.
Debbie’s car was discovered a mile away from their home in Deal with the lining of the boot removed and a small trace of her blood inside.
While no new evidence had come to light there was a cold case of review into the murder of Debbie Griggs and, because of changes in the law, there was a case to bring charges.
Andrew Griggs was arrested at his home in Dorset in March this year.
Andrew Griggs will be sentenced on Wednesday.
