Hundreds join Reading Gaol hug event to keep prison in the community
Campaigners calling for Reading Gaol to become a theatre and arts hub have gathered today to give the gaol a mass hug.
People joined hands and surrounded the grade two listed building - which once housed playwright Oscar Wilde- to demonstrate that the prison should be kept in the community.
The Ministry of Justice confirmed earlier this week that the prison is officially up for sale and will be sold to the highest bidder.
