Unidentified body found in Maidstone is missing man
Kent Police have confirmed that an unidentified body found in Maidstone is that of a man who was reported missing earlier this year.
Thirty-nine-year-old Nikola Georgiev from Maidstone was reported missing about six months ago. He was last seen in Upper Stone Street in Maidstone at about 8pm on Sunday 17th March.
About ten days later Kent Police issued a missing persons appeal for information and described him as a man of medium build with short black hair. It was said that he had connections to Brighton in Sussex.
In April, detectives made another appeal, saying that they would especially like to hear from members of the local Bulgarian community who might know him and be able to provide information about his whereabouts.
However neither appeal to find Mr Georgiev was successful.
Kent Police say that officers were called to a property in Stagshaw Close in Maidstone on Thursday 16 May after an unidentified body was found.
Following forensic tests Kent Police were told on Friday 6th September that the unknown body had been identified as Nikola Georgiev. Officers say that the death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will now be prepared for the coroner.
