Man arrested after woman raped in Chatham subway

A man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in Chatham.

It happened in a subway between Dock Road and Melville Court, at about 2.40am on Sunday 14th July.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was approached by a man while walking home in the direction of Brompton.

He is then reported to have assaulted and raped her.

Police are continuing to appeal for information.

Any witnesses or people who may have CCTV of the area are being asked to come forward.
