Two Hampshire-based friends have completed a gruelling 834-mile marathon along the length of Britain.

Will Cahill, 26, and James Grinter, 29, ran for 39 days, all the way from John O’Groats in Scotland to Land’s End in Cornwall.

The journey was completed far quicker than the 50 days they had originally scheduled.

James was raising money for the Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity, which helps around 9,000 babies born prematurely each year.

James’ sister gave birth to twins at just 29 weeks - Phoebe weighed only 1lb 14oz and Isabelle 2lb 5oz – but are now both healthy and well with thanks to Ickle Pickles.

Will was raising money in support of his friend Damien, who was left paralysed from the neck down after a horrific mountain bike accident in the French Alps.

The money will also go towards Damien’s care, funding the specialist equipment he needs in order to lead a more independent life.

The runners have raised over £7,500 but are still fundraising in hope of reaching their £10,000 target.
