11-year-old boy dies in two-car crash in Titchfield

An 11-year-old boy has died after a crash involving two cars in Hampshire.

The boy was crossing the road when he was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Mokka and a VW Golf.

It happened on Monday afternoon (3rd June) on Southampton Road in Titchfield.

The boy was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Specialist officers are providing support to the boy’s family.

It happened near Titchfield Primary School.

Although the boy was not a pupil at the school, Headteacher Mrs M Stephens said: "Our school first aiders provided assistance at the scene and I am grateful to the police officers in attendance who praised their efforts."

No other injuries were reported.

Part of Southampton Road had been closed while enquiries took place.

An investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.

Hampshire Police is appealing for witnesses.
