Man charged with murder of former Isle of Wight councillor

A man has been charged with the murder of a 73-year-old man on the Isle of Wight.

Gerard Michael White of Talbot Road in Sandown was seriously assaulted in the Lake Community Gardens, near Scotchells Brook Lane in Lake.

His body was later found in woodland on Monday which police believe is often used by dog walkers.

Jonathan Christopher Stasuik, aged 60, of Pier Street, Sandown has been charged with his murder.

Police believe the men knew each other.

Hampshire Police would like to hear from anyone who knew Mr White or was in the area between 3pm and 6.30pm on Monday 27th May.
