£3.35 million project to fit sprinklers to Coley High Rise Flats in Reading

Sprinklers are to be installed in high rise flats in Reading for the first time.

The project, planned for the Coley High Rise Flats on Wensley Road, is set to cost more than £3 million.

It was unanimously approved by Reading Borough Council at a meeting last night.

Speaking after the meeting, lead councillor for housing Cllr John Ennis said the council would do "whatever is necessary to protect the safety of our residents".

It's not yet known when the work is due to begin.
