Residents allowed back into their homes after bomb disposal called to a house in Wimborne
Residents on a Wimborne street have been allowed back into their homes after 'unknown' chemical substances were discovered in a house.
An Army bomb disposal team carried out a full search of a property on Hayes Close, with people kept away as a precaution.
Dorset County Council set up a rest centre for residents who couldn't get back into their homes.
Police were called in the early hours of 12 February to reports of a concern for the welfare of a man in a property on Hayes Close.
A 59-year-old man was detained and taken to Poole Hospital for a welfare assessment.
He has since been arrested on suspicion of an offence under the explosive substances act.
He is assisting police with their enquiries.
