Lucky escape for bus passengers as tree smashes through double-decker

Bus passengers in Poole had a very lucky escape after a tree fell onto the vehicle in strong winds, smashing windows and taking the front off.

Dorset Police reported no one was injured in the crash which happened just before 12pm on Ringwood Road.

The road was closed for several hours while a clean-up operation got underway, but it has since reopened.

The strong winds were caused by Storm Erik which also brought rain to parts of the country on Friday.

The Met office has said wet and windy weather will continue throughout the weekend with the possibility of snow early next week.
