Hastings MP Amber Rudd opens new school library for literacy campaign

Hastings MP Amber Rudd has opened a new library at a school in St Leonards as part of a campaign to get more children reading.

Local schools in the area will receive 600 new books and a visit from a poetry bus as part of the 'Get Hastings Reading' campaign.

Amber Rudd says she hopes the 10 year campaign will build children's confidence and literacy skills.

The reading campaign is run by the National Literacy Trust.

The trust will work in partnership with local schools, businesses and cultural organisations to raise awareness of the importance of literacy.
