A man has been taken to hospital with pelvic injuries after a crash in Wimborne.

Emergency services were called to Leigh Road in the early hours of this morning after a blue Ford Focus left the road and hit two lamp posts before landing on its roof.

The driver of the car, a local man aged in his 20s sustained a fractured pelvis and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

The incident was reported by officers who had travelled past the vehicle in the opposite direction to attend an unconnected 999 emergency call. The matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Leigh Road was closed between Wimborne Road West and Hayes Lane while investigations took place. The road remains closed while the lamp post is made safe.
