Police hit back at cashpoint ram-raiders in Oxfordshire
Dawn raids have taken place in Oxfordshire targeting the people behind brazen cash machine ram-raids. Watch this story from our reporter Cary Johnston.
Two hundred and fifty officers were deployed in the early hours to raid properties across four counties.
The operation follows a spate of recent ram-raids on convenience stores across the region - where diggers have been used to steal cash machines, causing a trail of destruction.
Across the region, detectives recovered large quantities of cash, jewellery, and suspected stolen power tools, in a region-wide 11-month investigation.
Thames Valley Police Sergeant Chris Ball described the police search of the site as "challenging".
ATM cashpoint crimes have been blighting neighbourhoods across the South. Today’s operation was an attempt by police to hit back.
Seven people were arrested with the National Crime Agency also involved in what is an ongoing police investigation.
Detective Inspector Jim Holmes says the operation was the result of a "significant amount of people from different forces working together".
