Our Active Autumn series is encouraging everyone to get out and about to improve our health and well-being.

Henley-on-Thames is known throughout the world for its rowing, but now it is hoping to become a destination for walkers.

The town has just been accredited as a Walkers Are Welcome Town.

It is a national initiative formed 11 years ago in 2007 to encourage people to walk more.

It now has around 100 different towns in England, Wales and Scotland.

Henley-on-Thames is the second town in Oxfordshire, alongside Charlbury, to achieve the status.

To become a Walkers Are Welcome Town, the area should put initiatives in place such as making B&Bs, pubs, hotels and restaurants walker friendly.

Businesses in Henley-on-Thames are being asked to provide muddy boot covers and drying facilities for wet clothes.

Footpaths will also have to be well maintained.
