New clinical trial to fight childhood cancer

Medical staff are supporting patients in the special treatment centre

A cutting edge clinical trial is underway in Southampton which it's hoped will save the lives of hundreds of children with a rare form of cancer.

The project includes specialists from the USA and Germany. The treatment will boost the body's immune system to kill off neuroblastoma - one of the most aggressive childhood cancers.

One of the people taking part in the trial is 8-year-old Luke. In his report, Richard Slee spoke to Luke's father Mark Bell; and Dr Juliet Gray, Professor of Paediatric Oncology.
