Police appeal after fatal crash

Wiltshire police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision near Marlborough last night.

It happened shortly after 9pm yesterday (Saturday 18 August 2018) on the B4192 near Toll Cottage, Preston, near Ramsbury.

The passenger, a 41-year-old man from the Thatcham area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A full investigation is underway to establish the cause of the crash.

A 31-year-old man, of no fixed address, was this morning arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been taken to hospital as a precaution and will be questioned by police in due course.

The road was closed for around nine hours and reopened shortly before 6am.
