It's a painful and chronic disease of the digestive system which affects more than 100 thousand people across the country.

But now a new treatment for people living with previously untreatable Crohn's disease is proving so successful, that many people are now living, pain free, for the first time in years.

The trial involving researchers at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford is using stem cell transplants to kick-start patients immune systems.

Richard Slee reports.

Richard spoke to Professor Simon Travis from the University of Oxford, and clinical trial patient Masaaki Black.
