Eastbourne’s Johanna Konta backed up her stunning victory over Serena Williams by beating Sofia Kenin to advance to the Silicon Valley Classic quarter-finals.

After consigning Williams to her heaviest ever defeat in round one, Konta saw off American teenager Kenin in straight sets, 6-1 6-4.

The British number one, who won this tournament two years ago, will face the number four seed Elise Mertens in the last eight.
