New community hub opens doors to public
It's cost three quarters of a million pounds and has opened its doors to the public for the first time this week.
The new South Reading Community Hub in Northumberland Avenue in Whitley houses a library, children's centre, nursery, and a social club, all under one roof.
But it comes at a time when other centres have been closed. The council says government cuts have forced its hand, and that the new centre will improve community welfare. Cary Johnston reports.
