Fourteenth 'Watercress Festival' celebrates a superfood

Watercress is celebrated as a regional staple food

Up to fifteen thousand people are expected to have visited Alresford in Hampshire to mark the fourteenth annual 'Watercress Festival'.

Over the past decade the event has grown into one of the region's biggest food festivals. It celebrates the role the superfood has played, and still plays, in the local economy and community. Richard Slee reports.
