Campaign to save the water vole
It's a much-loved creature which has been a part of the English countryside for centuries. But the humble water vole is under threat, as its habitat is being destroyed by increasing land development.
The tiny mammal, which was immortalised in the children's book 'The Wind in the Willows' is also being preyed upon by the invasive American mink, according to the People's Trust for Endangered Species. (www.ptes.org)
Now, the public are being asked to help with a special survey, in a bid to replenish its population across the region. Cary Johnston has more.
