Southampton Manager, Mark Hughes, says the club 'weren't to be denied' after securing a narrow win at Swansea which has all but guaranteed Premier League safety.

The Saints have faced adversity in recent days after conceding a very late equaliser at Everton on Saturday, then having their hotel booking in Swansea cancelled at the last minute ahead of last night's match. But Hughes was 'delighted with the response' of his players as a second half goal from Manolo Gabbiadini was enough to secure an invaluable three points.

It moves them three points clear of the Swans, who occupy the last relegation spot, with just one game of the season remaining. As Southampton have a far superior goal difference it means, barring a ten goal swing, they will be playing top flight football again next season.
