Thieves have smashed through the wall of a bank with a forklift truck to steal a cash machine.

Structural engineers are assessing the damage at the Lloyds Bank in Liphook, after the smach and grab raid at 4.45 this morning.

The forklift truck was left at the scene, which was cordoned off by Hampshire Police while investigations were carried out.

The fire service was also called to help support the "unstable structure".

A Hampshire police spokesperson said officers were appealing for witnesses.
