A new fire station has opened in Basingstoke. It's the biggest in Hampshire and one of the most important in the county. The first fire station in Basingstoke was built in the town centre.

The fire station moved out of the town centre in the 1960s to West Ham Close, which has easy access to the motorway and rural areas, but the building had fallen into disrepair.

It's now been replaced by a £6 million pound station, which is said to be designed for modern firefighting. It has three fire engines, 64 full time firefighters and new training facilities. Mary Stanley went to have a look around.
