Royal Navy's new aircraft carrier departs for sea trials

Chinook helicopters have landed onboard HMS Queen Elizabeth for the first time as the Royal Navy's new aircraft carrier heads to sea on her next round of trials.

The UK's future flagship sailed from Portsmouth this week for the first time since being officially commissioned into the Royal Navy in December.

She will be launching her first helicopter trials at sea.

The 65,000 tonne future flagship will spend the next month conducting further sea trials, which will include testing with rotary wing aircraft, learning about their behaviour flying to and from the ship in a range of conditions.
