Two killed and three injured after car crashes into wall in Hawkhurst

Two people have died and three have been injured after a car crashed into a wall in Hawkhurst.

Detectives are appealing for information after being called to the A268 Rye Road at 9.30pm yesterday.

The smash happened near the junction with Foxhole Lane and involved a red Volvo hatchback car which was travelling from Hawkhurst towards Sandhurst when it crashed into a wall.

Officers, as well as Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended.

Two people were confirmed dead at the scene.

Three others were taken to hospital, one with life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed while officers attended the scene but reopened around 3.40am on Sunday.
