Salesman jailed after molesting woman during sales pitch in her own home

John Adams is starting a two year sentence

A former salesman has been sentenced to two years in prison after he sexually assaulted a woman inside her Swanley home.

John Adams targeted his victim as he tried to persuade her to sign up to a new utilities deal.

Adams, aged 63 and formerly of Lower Boxley Road, Maidstone was invited into the property in November, 2015.

He contacted a company he worked for, in order that call centre staff could discuss details of the new deal with the victim.

During the phone conversation Adams was stood nearby and without warning approached the victim and sexually assaulted her.

The victim shouted to at him to leave her alone and to alert another person who, unbeknown to Adams, was in the house at the same time.

Adams left the property, before returning shortly after to retrieve his mobile phone.

He was arrested by Kent Police the following day and during interview denied the allegations, claiming he had been made to leave the property due to a dispute over the new energy deal.

At Maidstone Crown Court Adams pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexual assault, but was convicted following a trial.

He was sentenced on 19 May and also given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
