BREAKING: Body found in River Medway IS missing teenager

The body of a man found in the River Medway, in Rochester, on Wednesday 1 February has been formally identified as being Ben Savage.

The last sighting of the 18-year-old was in Sun Pier, Chatham, at 3.16am on Tuesday 6 December. He was reported missing that same morning.

There are no suspicious circumstances and Kent Police is preparing a report for the coroner.

Mr Savage’s next of kin are aware and have released the following statement:

Dozens of people had helped in the search for Ben, after he disappeared after a night out in Chatham.

A fundraising campaign was launched to help pay for funeral costs, after his family were told a body had been found last week.
