Lover village launches 'Lover Post' for Valentine's Day
The Wiltshire village of Lover has opened the doors of a pop-up post office so romantics can get their Valentine's card stamped "Posted at Lover".
It is the first time 'Lover post' has been reinstated in the village since its Post Office closed in 2008. Villagers transformed an old school building for the occasion and are welcoming anyone to drop-in to buy a Valentine card with their famous 'Cachet stamp' to mark its origin before it is posted.
Community members say Lover was once a thriving, bustling village with a village shop, pub and primary school and it is now a village determined to prove it can thrive in modern times.
In less than two months, villagers raised £85,000 to purchase the Old School building lying vacant at the heart of the village. They say donations from this year's card will go towards the renovating the building and transforming it into a community asset.
