Angel nurses spread festive cheer to lonely patients in the New Forest
It's a shocking fact that in the UK, more than 300 thousand older people will spend Christmas Day on their own this year.
Last year, one health worker in Hampshire was so appalled at the extent of the problem she started making winter survival boxes for those most in need.
It was such a success that she and the community care team at the Becton Centre in Barton-on-Sea have extended the scheme to Christmas boxes this year.
Rachel Hepworth went to meet them:
Rachel spoke to pensioner Jan Merefield, Healthcare Support Worker Alison Collins and her colleague Tanya Powell, and Mike Simpson from Age UK Mid Hampshire.
Age UK have produced a video to highlight the issue of loneliness at Christmas. You can find out more about their campaign and how to help here
