Earlier this year we launched our hunt for the ITV Fundraiser of the Year, part of the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards.

We were overwhelmed by the number of nominations but a judging panel has come up with a shortlist of four for Meridian East and West regions.

We'll announce the winners on Friday - but for the next four days we'll bring you the inspirational stories of eight amazing fundraisers.

MERIDIAN WEST

Chris Graham, from Carterton

At 40, Chris has early onset Alzheimer's Disease - a condition that has claimed the lives of his father and other close relatives.

The father of four served in the army for 22 years, but was medically discharged after blood tests revealed he was carrying the same faulty gene.

Since his diagnosis, Chris has dedicated his time to raising awareness of the disease and much needed funds for research.

MERIDIAN EAST

Danny Dwyer, from Brighton

When Danny Dwyer was diagnosed as HIV positive, he admits his world fell apart.

Danny, from Brighton, became isolated and fearful about the future. But he fought back against those negative feelings, by fundraising for others.

Now, he has raised a staggering £150,000, much of it going to a hospice which has helped him since his diagnosis.
