Friends of a teenager from Brazil have launched a crowdfunding bid to send his body back to his home country.

Gustavo Silva Da Cruz was one of three men who got into trouble in the water at Camber Sands, East Sussex, on Sunday afternoon.

By Tuesday afternoon the total had already passed £10,000 with more than 400 people contributing.

The page was set up by friend Amanda Martins who said that the 19-year-old was in the UK visiting family in Croydon.

Two other people, not connected to Gustavo, a 35-year-old man and his 17-year-old son visiting from London, were taken to hospital in a critical condition but both later stabilised.

Supporters can offer help by visiting the crowdfunding page.
